For some reason, I regularly receive mail asking this one question. "Is it God's will that we be physically well? Does God want to heal me? And, what if God is trying to show me something by making me sick?"
These questions have been around since Jesus was here on earth, and here's the answer. It is God's will for you to be healed and it is not God who makes you sick to show you something.
Sometimes people will say, well, what about poor, sick, old Job in the Bible. Well, let's look at Job. The Bible says that he wasn't poor. In fact he was one of the richest men on earth. And if you read closely, you will find that God is not the one who made Job sick and tried to destroy his life. It was God who restored his body and gave him wealth. And to top it off, Job was only sick for a few months and after he was restored by God, he lived an additional one hundred and forty years.
Job 42:15-17 says, "In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers. After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations. So Job died, old and full of days."
We need to rightly divide the Word of God. Satan destroys and God restores.
When Jesus was here on earth, the Bible says that He came to destroy the works of the devil. First John 3:8 says, "He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil."
Here we are clearly told why Jesus came to earth. He came to destroy the works of the devil. Now, let's look at what Jesus did when He was here on earth.
Matthew 4:23 says, "Now Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people."
Matthew 9:35 says, "And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people."
I could go on and on just reading the scriptures in the New Testament that tell about healing, but there isn't room.
If you are sick, or if you are praying for someone who is sick, you need to read these and other scriptures on healing. Meditate on them. They will build your faith. As you read them, you will see clearly that it is God's will that you will be healed. And, not only will you see that it is His will, you will know beyond any doubt that God wants you healed, today.
The gospel, the good news, was not just for the people of Israel during the time of Jesus. The good news is for you and it is for me. And the good news is this. Jesus has paid the price for our sins and our diseases. And because He has paid the price, we can have everlasting life and healing today.
